WHY you SHOULD clean your air conditioner

HOW TO: Clean your air conditioner
- Most AC systems have their own self-cleaning functions, however, it is always a better idea to properly remove and clean any build yourself, before you attempt to clean your AC make sure the unit is completely switched off.
Outdoor Unit
- Use a broom to remove any large pieces of dirt and debris on and around the outside of the unit
- Clean the condenser that surrounds the unit with a vacuum cleaner
- Remove the fan and soak in warm water
- Wipe down the insides of the unit with warmwater
Inside Unit
- Make sure you have an AC bag under the whole unit to catch anything that falls out
- Remove the filters and wash them with warm water, make sure these are dry before placing them back
- Clean the coils – if you have coil cleaner this is great!
- Rinse off any cleaner with water (beneficial to use a hose)
- Run the AC and wait until all the water from the unit falls out into the AC bag.
If your air conditioner unit has a ‘dry out’ function, make sure you use this function after every use to remove any moisture build-up to prevent mould and any odour.
